40th Anniversary Virtual Exhibition
Celebrating 40 Years
The West Highland Way celebrates 40 years as Scotland’s premier long-distance route on 6th October 2020. In the run up to this anniversary, we asked you to share your favourite West Highland Way memories with us. The result is this Virtual Exhibition, curated through the wonderful stories, photographs, videos, poems and art that you kindly provided.
Whether you walk, run or cycle some or all of the 96 miles, and if you’ve walked it once or 50 times, this exhibition is for you. It’s your West Highland Way and we hope you enjoy it. Thank you to everyone for participating.
Jimmie Macgregor
Officially launching the 40th Anniversary Virtual Exhibition is Jimmie Macgregor. Now in his 90th year, Jimmie inspired many people to walk the West Highland Way through his radio and TV programmes, plus spin-off books. Click play for his special greeting.
Support the West Highland Way
With your help, we can ensure that the West Highland Way can be enjoyed by everyone for another 40 years. Please make a donation today because thousands of feet walking this special route each year - plus the Scottish weather - means that we need to carry out regular maintenance and repairs on the path, bridges and waymarkers. It's quick and easy to do and every penny helps; just click the button below to donate. Thank you.
